Entertainment One (eOne) has announced that On the Basis of Sex will have its Australian Premiere at the Jewish International Film Festival on November 25, following its World Premiere as the Opening Night Film at AFI Fest in Los Angeles on November 8. On the Basis of Sex is the inspiring and uplifting true story of extraordinary feminist and human rights activist, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Ruth is a trailblazing, yet relatable, icon whose dedication to change has shaped the world we live in. In 1975, she brought a case before the US Supreme Court that would overturn more than a century of gender discrimination. Audiences will see where her story began in this warm and stirring drama.
Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) stars as Ruth Bader Ginsburg alongside Armie Hammer (Call Me By Your Name) as her devoted husband, Martin Ginsburg. Justin Theroux (The Leftovers), Kathy Bates (Misery), Sam Waterston (Law & Order) and Cailee Spaeny (Pacific Rim: Uprising) also star. Directed by Mimi Leder (The Leftovers, Deep Impact), this equal rights story has unprecedented relevance in current times. To add to the credibility of the feature, Ruth and her children have given the film their blessing, with the script penned by Ruth’s nephew, Daniel Stiepleman.
The film will have its Australian Premiere on Sunday 25 November, 4.00pm at the following cinemas:
