Five years after her husband and daughter are killed in a senseless act of violence, a woman comes back from self-imposed exile to seek revenge against those responsible and the system that let them go free.

For the record, yes, I was a fan of Jennifer Garner’s series Alias. It’s good to see that Garner has returned to the action genre. I’ve read it other reviews and I would have to agree that the easy way describe Peppermint would be to say that it is a female lead Death Wish movie. However, comparing the two films I feel that it seems that a Mother’s rage goes that little bit further then than a Father’s. It should be noted that Garner’s character Riley North is not a Sydney Bristowesque character. Director Pierre Morell is probably one of my favourite directors who has delivered some seriously cool action movies most notably District B13 (2004) and Taken (2008). There is more than enough to keep fans of action movies entertained. In the realms of creativity, the scene with the judge was on the same level of The Punisher (2004). Though Riley’s love for her family makes the character seem to be more rounded then other lead female characters in action movie. Juan Pablo Raba was great as Diego Garcia I also enjoyed Cailey Fleming’s performance.

On a personal note, I would like to see a sequel to Peppermint. But I suppose I am going to have to hurry up and wait.
