After chomping through the fish population, thousands of starved lampreys begin attacking the citizens of a sleepy lake town, and the community scrambles to stay alive.
Blood Lake: Attack of the Killer Lampreys what an interesting title. There are many examples of movies changing their titles, in fact its kind of interesting to see if a movie is known by a different title in a different country. However, with this ‘movie’ it was a little different considering that the title on the DVD cover did not match up with the title I saw in the opening credits.
Blood Lake is the final ‘movie’ for Mysterious Insanity 2, I’d like to take the opportunity to say least worst ‘movie’ of the five ‘movies’ that I had to watch and for the record no I will not stop using the quotation marks around the word movie when referring to a movie distributed by The Asylum.
In my opinion the last decent man-eater movies where released in the mid to late nineties. That being said, Blood Lake actually made me do something no other ‘movie’ in Mysterious Insanity 2 managed to do and that was to actually care about some of the characters and whether they lived or died. It was also capable of the occasional minor jump scare. I was a little surprised to see Fred Stoller cast in this considering that the only role I have seen him in was as Gerard in Everybody Loves Raymond. I was very surprised to see Christopher Lloyd as the Mayor. Lloyd’s character Mayor Akerman seemed to be influenced by Mayor Larry Vaughn from Jaws. I just hope that I can forget about the ultimate fate of Akerman in a hurry (its funny and yet greatly disturbing all in the same breath). I suppose the only decent performance was Koosha Yar who probably isn’t older than 9.
