A musician helps a young singer find fame, even as age and alcoholism send his own career into a downward spiral.
Yeah, yeah I know. I get it I should have caught this one at this cinema. But in my defence, I was a lot more organised about my watching of ‘award worthy’ movies when the academy awards were held later in the year.
Even though this is the fourth version of A star is born is an interesting choice for first time director Bradley Cooper, and for those of you who might be wondering yes I am kind of interested to see what the next movie Cooper directs is going to be.
One of the things that I really liked about this movie was a point that was made by Cooper’s character Jack about having something to say and a way to say it so that people listen to it. Its an important point to make especially today considering that there are so many people who are only famous for being famous.
Now as you would expect Sam Elliot gave a great performance and it was good to see what Lady Gaga did with her first starring role in a feature film, she was a great casting choice opposite Bradley Cooper. Though with her next movie role Gaga really gets to test herself as an actress and has a role where she isn’t playing a singer.
On a side note I’d be interested to know what scene is the cutest scene in A Star is Born?
