The crypto-zoological agency Monarch faces off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.

For those of you who are wondering is the 35th film in the Godzilla franchise, the third film in Legendary’s MonsterVerse, and the third Godzilla film to be completely produced by a Hollywood studio and yes this is a sequel to the 2014 Godzilla movie and yes this king of the monsters is a sequel to the 2014 movie. Personally, I would have liked to have liked to have seen more of a connection between the two movies (though considering the quality of the 2014 release I can understand a desire to distance the two movies as much as possible) , it really did seem at times that there were missing plot points to the story. I found myself internally heckling a couple of the human characters particularly Dr. Emma Russell portrayed by Vera Farmiga. Not enough was done by the filmmakers to explain the actions of Dr Russell and to be honest the entire plot line involving the humans seemed to be lacklustre at best. I will admit that both Charles Dance and Thomas Middleditch gave okay performances and I was a little surprised to see that Bradley Whitford was cast in this.
It was good to see that filmmakers learnt their lesson from the previous Godzilla movie and actually gave the title character more screen time and I also enjoyed that the filmmakers extended the monster threat in the monsterverse to every continent on earth. It would have been good to see that the same attention to world building was paid to the human plot lines.
