Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man must step up to take on new threats in a world that has changed forever.
With the end of Avengers: Endgame I was starting to feel that I was over the MCU, and no this isn’t just a simple case of Marvelitis, I was at a wash my hands of it I don’t want any more to do with the live action universe I’m D.O.N.E stage. Things where so much easier with comic book movies ten or for that matter five years ago. Fanboys would watch the movie, metaphorically behead the filmmakers over all the differences between the movie and the source material and then move on to the next movie. Then I had to go and pay attention to all the goddamn drama surrounding the release of Captain Marvel and Endgame, the reason why I didn’t cover it on The Movie Boards is twofold my own personal brand of procrastination and that it was so goddamn infuriating ridiculous. Now, the filmmakers had to go and release Spiderman: Far from Home.
It was good to see that the director from Homecoming Jon Watts stayed on to direct Far from Home, I know directorial changes in Marvel trilogies is rare but changes like that are pet peeve of mine.
Tony Stark’s presence does loom over the movie with Peter struggling with question can he step up or does he is just the neighbourhood spider-man? On the way home I found myself drawing connections between Far from Home and Iron Man 3. Jon Favreau’s performance as Happy Hogan didn’t feel out of place and Hogan had some good moments. I wasn’t sure what to expect of Mysterio but I loved Jake Gyllenhaal’s performance. I loved the direction Far from Home took the relationship between Peter and MJ (though part of me can’t help but wonder if Gwen Stacy is going to make an appearance in the third movie). The final act of the movie is definitely worth watching and I have to say that it was probably the mid-credits scene that has caused me to want to stick around at least until the next movie. Dam it.
