Australian billionaire, Sly Morgan is invited to join the Stark Conspiracy, a group of the world’s richest people who plan to save themselves from the Earth’s impending environmental doom. Colin Dobson, or CD to his friends, tries to impress beautiful activist Rachel by joining her and a group of hippies on a mission to foil Stark’s evil plan of environmental vandalism.

Okay, another spur of the moment decision. For those of you who haven’t heard of Stark, it’s a three-episode mini-series from 1993 and it’s based on a novel of the same name written by Ben Elton from 1989, his first novel.
While I was watching this the plot (at least the rich people hoping to flee to a utopia of their creation part) reminded me of movies such as the James Bond Movie from 1979 Moonraker and Kingsman : The Secret Service. I also thought that the head of the Stark Conspiracy Lord De Quincey portrayed by John Neville would have made for a good Bond Villain. I suppose what makes De Quincey such a good villain is the disconnect with how altruistic the plans of the Stark Conspiracy might seem at first glance, but the execution of those plans leaves something to be desired.
A few familiar faces where cast Colin Friels and Bill Hunter, I was a little surprised to see that Deborra-Lee Furness was cast in this. Ben Elton gave an interesting performance as CD and I loved the banted between CD and Rachel Jacqueline McKenzie. Elton’s brings to light just how far a man will go to get into a woman’s pants.
Mrs Cogburn who was portrayed by Barbara Henry had a moment in the first episode I thought was extremely hilarious I also enjoyed Bill Wallis’s performance as Walter.
