In the long distant future a duke and his family are sent to the sand world Arrakis a plant that produces a drug that makes interstellar space travel possible. This move is a trap to destroy the duke and his family. The duke’s son escapes and in time fulfills a prophecy that will change the universe itself.
Based on Frank Hebert’s epic “Dune” which was first published in 1965. Sitting through the three hour extended edition of Dune in a single sitting is a tremendous effort; David Lynch had his director credit removed from this special edition. Dune is a visually amazing movie with a beautiful soundtrack. However, plot wise it does seem to lag tremendously like a long car trip. Both Maclachlan and Sting had an amazing screen presence while Alica Witt made a brilliant film debut.
