An ambitious documentary filmmaker discovers the darkest parts of himself when he turns his camera on a beautiful woman who humiliates men for money.
Okay, yes there are movies that I will refuse to review for The Movie Boards. Use Me is the kind of movie that but never really crossed over the line, there was some awkward moments while watching that caused me to pause this a couple of times, so I am kind of glad that I watched one alone. I think it has been more then a few years since I have last watched a movie like this. Use Me is marketed as being a ‘doco-style thriller’ a much broader genre term for Use Me would probably be ‘mockumentary’. I only say this because while watching this Daniel Minahan’s 2001 movie Series 7: The Contenders slipped into my mind while I was watching this. Both movies dealt with the question of ‘what is real?’ in completely different ways. I suppose I only really made this connection because of something Julian said during the movie about the need to create some drama.
I was completely unfamiliar with Julian Shaw’s work as a filmmaker or actor and I hadn’t even heard of Ceara Lynch before watching this. I enjoyed this movie and it will be interesting to see what the stars of the movie do next as far as I can tell from looking at their respective filmographies Use Me is either the first or second time Ceara Lynch, Julian Shaw & Jazlyn Yoder have starred in a feature length movie. Without giving away any spoilers away I found that the final act of the movie to be a tad predictable. I knew the direction that the movie was going to take me, but I still enjoyed the ride.
