Ray Garrison, an elite soldier who was killed in battle, is brought back to life by an advanced technology that gives him the ability of superhuman strength and fast healing. With his new abilities, he goes after the man who killed his wife, or at least, who he believes killed his wife. He soon comes to learn that not everything he learns can be trusted. The true question is: Can he even trust himself?

Considering there is a chance that there is a chance that the cinemas could close, with everything that is going on I kind of had to the cinema when I checked this out on Sunday. Considering it might be awhile before I go to the cinemas. But with movie streaming and a DVD collection I really don’t want to admit how big it is, I’ll keep on reviewing movies.

I went into this never having heard of the character Bloodshot. For those of you who might be interested Bloodshot is a character from Valiant Comics (Valiant Comics was founded in 1989 by former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Jim Shooter along with lawyer and businessman Steven Massarsky) and the character’s first appearance in a comic book was in November of 1992.
Okay, after seeing this I suppose a big question to ask is will we ever see Vin Diesel in a DC movie? (what DC character would you like to see Vin Diesel play?).
Given everything that is going on this might under perform at the box office and for some reason while I am sitting here writing my review I found myself reminded of the 2015 Russian-American movie Hardcore Henry. I suppose it has something to do with the fact that both lead characters wake up in a laboratory. Now even though this is just a ‘comic book movie’ the filmmakers shot in some really gorgeous locations, such as the beach side Italian village towards the start of the movie. Like all good science fiction Bloodshot also presents some interesting ideas such as programmable memories and ‘special nanite technology’.
The role of Ray Garrison is something that you would expect to see given to an actor like Vin Diesel. Though kind of cool, I do remember thinking that the effects used for the healing factor reminded me of a cartoon character being shot in the face with a shotgun. It was cool to see that Guy Pearce was cast in this and he gave a decent enough performance, though I found that his character Dr. Emil Harting reminded me of Aldrich Killian from Iron Man 3. I also loved Siddharth Dhananjay’s performance and I hope to see him in more movies in the future.
