Three pro surfers – gifted Shane, once-great Mickey and rising young star Keoni travel to Madagascar, Bali and Hawaii in search for the ultimate wave.

Okay, time to take a look at movie that I haven’t watched in over twenty years. Or close to it. I first stumbled across this one at the friendly neighbourhood video store and for a time had the movie poster hanging on my wall when I was younger and prettier.
So, what prompted this revisit to In God’s Hands? One line that happens in the first half hour of the movie. There are times when you just want to watch a movie for one moment and since I don’t remember buying this on DVD, I ended up tracking this down on Google Play.

From what I can gather a lot of the actors who where cast in this are not professional actors but professional surfers. This is also the only movie that I have watched that was directed by Zalman King. In God’s Hands doesn’t have a lot of great acting, don’t worry nobody ventures off into the realms of an ‘Asylum Pictures’ performance. The only standout performance was probably is Matt George (who co-wrote the movie with the director Zalman King) who played Mickey. George played Mickey as the time person I would like to have a beer with.
Now considering that In God’s Hands is a surf movie, there never was going to be that many standout performances but there is some stunning cinematography and a great soundtrack. This isn’t the type of movie that showcases every single location where the movie was shot, though where they shot in Bali really did look beautiful. This is the type of movie that needs to be largish screen that has good speakers.
