As the third offering in The Fast and the Furious franchise, Tokyo Drift follows Sean Boswell. To escape a jail sentence, Sean is sent to Japan to live with his father, and in time he becomes involved in the underground race scene.
So much can be said about this movie, yet not all of it is good. Any rev-head will love it. The real stars are the cars, particularly the Mustang. The race scenes and stunt driving sequences are fantastic.
However, Lucas Black does not have the charisma to be a leading man. His acting has not improved with experience, and frankly was laughable. On the other hand Brian Tee’s role as Drift King provided a strong counter-point to Black’s lack of talent.
The only link to the previous “Fast and the Furious” movies was a cameo appearance by Vin Diesel at the end of the end of the film. The lack of continuity with the previous two was disappointing, and left me wondering why this was tagged as a sequel. It was a damaged commodity from the word go.
