In Cinemas from June 25 with subsequent dates as Cinemas reopen

When a group of misfit teenagers encounter an ancient relic during a school trip, they find themselves caught up in a magical world, with elemental powers beyond their belief, and the responsibility of stopping an age-old evil from destroying the world.

For those of you at home who might have been reading my reviews for a little while might have seen mention that I am of an age where I probably shouldn’t be watching certain movies anymore. The Legend of the Five falls into that category. I am actually glad that I chose to ignore that decision and got a chance to watch this because it (at least briefly when I first saw the trailer) reminded me of some of the tv shows I watched 90’s and a few other movies such as Tomorrow, When the War Began and the remake of Jumanji that was released in 2017, there were a few scenes that seemed to be influenced by Jumanji. I thought that the line ‘one tree is all trees’ was a great concept that was explored in the movie.

The Legend of the Five had a beautiful opening and I went into this completely unfamiliar with anybody involved with the production of The Legend of the Five. Both Georgia Adamson as Mrs Benjamin and Matthew Pritchard as the Gatekeeper and Tiriel Mora as Marduk gave great performances. Lauren Esposito, Gabi Sproule, Leigh Joel Scott, Deborah An and Nicholas Andrianakos worked great together, and I hope to see them in more movies in the future.
Beth Champion gave an interesting performance as Dr Rawson and I can see that the character might be frightening for younger viewers. Though personally I found that as I got older the villains in some ‘children’s movies’ were not as menacing as they could have been.
