Two Boston area detectives investigate a little girl’s kidnapping, which ultimately turns into a crisis both professionally and personally.

A gritty movie achieved in part by using locals as a lot of the extras . Gone Baby Gone is Ben Affleck’s directing debut and he doesn’t disappoint. Fantastic supporting roles filled by Morgan Freeman , Ed Harris and hip hop artist Slaine. Casey Affleck is convincing as a private detective Patrick who along with his partner Angie played by Michelle Monaghan specialize in locating missing persons. A little girl is abducted from her bed and the family call in 2 young private detectives to talk to the locals. The further they investigate the more complicated it becomes. Moral choices have to be made, it becomes hard to tell right from wrong and the good guys from the bad guys . Definitely a stand out in this for me was Amy Ryan as Helene the drug addicted mother of little Amanda . When Patrick makes his promise to bring her little girl home he doesn’t realize how hard it will really be. You are left at the end of this movie asking yourself did he make the right decision after all? What would you do- how far would you go and what would you be prepared to sacrifice?
