Health Minister Roger Cook today announced Cancer Council WA has recently been awarded a $2.1 million grant to undertake a suite of public health activities over the next three years to help encourage healthy lifestyles.
“We are committed to funding the best possible public health service that can help prevent harms in the community caused by alcohol and poor nutrition.” Minister Cook commented “Cancer Council WA has already conducted extensive work in these areas and has developed strong partnerships with government and non-government agencies.”
The Minister explained that the funding will help Cancer Council WA conduct policy and research related work to achieve significant and positive health outcomes relating to healthy eating and alcohol related harm in our community. The McGowan Government, through Healthway, works with funded organisations to deliver public health activities, create healthy events and promote healthy lifestyles.
“This co-ordinated approach is needed to help more Western Australians live healthy lifestyles. Congratulations to Cancer Council WA. We look forward to working with you to deliver positive health outcomes for the Western Australian community.” Minister Cook commented.
