Khushaal Vyas has been announced as the new Chief Operating Officer of the AIFC

Australia India Film Council (AIFC) today announced the appointment of youth leader and lawyer Khushaal Vyas as their Chief Operating Officer. Khushaal is from Western Sydney with a history of social justice and diversity advocacy. He is an extremely passionate advocate for greater collaboration between the Australian and Indian film industries and the opportunities such collaboration brings to both nations.
“We’re delighted to have Mr Khushaal Vvyas on board as Chief Operating Officer. His legal background, along with his passion for cinema and his commitment to social justice causes is a huge asset to our new organisation. We will all benefit greatly from his experience and his enthusiasm for progressing Australian-Indian film relationships.” Vice-Chair of AIFC Julie Marlow commented.
Marlow explained that in addition to the day to day running of AIFC business, Vyas will lead the team to execute and deliver a wide range of on line and in person events which include discussions, knowledge series, brainstorming sessions, and masterclasses which will serve the purpose of strengthening all aspects of film links between Australia and India from development through to distribution.
“Collaboration between Australia and India in the film space not only has the potential for incredible economic opportunity, but to also share more stories which can further improve dialogue in diverse and multicultural spaces. Having the opportunity to facilitate that collaboration and be part of the important impact it can have is why I’m so thrilled to be joining AIFC as Chief Operating Officer – I’m so excited for the road ahead!” Chief Operating Officer Khushaal Vvyas commented.

“It is a delight to have Khushaal joining AIFC as the COO. His legal experience, excellence in community outreach programs, and passion for Australia India soft diplomacy will be vital in our council realising its aims and objectives particularly in the crucial discussions and round tables being planned during Cannes and negotiation of an MoU with authorities and relevant ministries in India” Chair of the AIFC Anupam Sharma commented.
Mr. Sharma said that the AIFC plays an important role in fostering cultural and economic collaboration between Australia, India and Bollywood – the biggest film industry in the word – a position strengthened by the recent announcement by the Australian government of the Maitri grants and fellowships program between Australia and India . The AIFC will be participating in round tables with Indian authorities and practitioners at Cannes this month.
