Still reeling from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill rallies his team to defend the universe and one of their own – a mission that could mean the end of the Guardians if not successful.

The release of the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe used to be something to be excited about, the sort of thing that you would lose sleep for, the sort of thing that you would go to a midnight screening for. Now a lot of the movies of this cinematic universe seem like they are a chore to watch because with the current attitude towards movie mega-franchises held by movie studios causes franchise fatigue in the movie going audience. My first thought of Volume 3 (especially the first two acts) was that the movie was a piece of shit and the comedic trope where a scene is only funny because it’s awkward and it needs to be allowed to die the lazy death that it deserves..
I didn’t like the main plot line because it seemed to rely on that lazy awkward humor that I have grown to loath from Marvel’s cinematic writers. That being said I am still a sucker for a good cinematic ending. I also enjoyed the flashbacks featuring Rocket, though I felt that these moments could have gone a little further into Rocket’s backstory and probably should have featured Groot somehow.  I loved the moments between Sean Gunn as Kraglin and Maria Bakalova as Cosmo the Spacedog. I would have liked to have seen more of Will Poulter as Adam Warlock, though I have not seen a lot of his work, he gave a decent performance as a lunk head Warlock. It wouldn’t surprise me if some of his scenes were cut for timing and would have made his character make more sense if they were left in.
