Silmido tells of the ill-fated Special Unit 684, a commando unit that was formed in 1968 to kill North Korean President Kim IL Sung. The policies of the government of changed the grim fate of Unit 684 was written as the government did everything it could to keep the unit existence a secret.

Silmido is one of the most popular movies ever to be made in South Korea with over 10 million tickets sold. I know it’s not fair to do this but by comparison Silmido makes The Dirty Dozen look like a Sunday School Picnic. Director Woo-Suk Kang and writer Hie-jae Kim have something special on their hand which was only propelled further by the amazing ensemble cast that was put together.
