June is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month

Bowel Cancer Australia’s signature event raising awareness of Australia’s second deadliest cancer and funds for the 100% community-funded national charity. Bowel Cancer Australia is dedicated to championing what matters most to people impacted by bowel cancer and empowering everyone affected to live their best life.

  • 1-in-14 Australians will be diagnosed with bowel cancer in their lifetime 
  • 15,531 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer each year (299 a week) 
  • Bowel cancer claims the lives of 5,354 people every year (103 a week) 
  • 1-in-9 new bowel cancer cases diagnosed in people under age 50 (1,716 a year) 
  • Almost 99% of bowel cancer cases can be successfully treated, when detected early
