When a hitman is diagnosed with a terminal illness, he decides to take a hit out on himself. But when the very hitmen he hired also target his ex-girlfriend, he must fend off an army of assassin colleagues.

Add this to the long line of spur of the moment decision movies that I’ve watched knowing little to nothing about the movie. I wasn’t overly impressed with Killer’s Game but in the same breath I didn’t hate it. While watching I was kind of reminded of McG’s 2014 movie 3 Days to Kill (they both have a similar plot point of the protagonist being diagnosed with a serious illness).  Apparently The Killer’s Game was adapted from a  1997 novel by Jay Bonansinga. Dave Bautista seems to have cemented himself on the list of former wrestlers turned bankable actors. I was a little surprised to see Ben Kingsley pop up in this. It is also good to see that Drew Galloway is starting down the acting path Bautista is already on. Terry Crews was great in this I loved his scenes with George Somner who played an aspiring hitman called Money. I also enjoyed Dylan Moran’s performance as Father O’Brien.  This was J.J. Perry’s second movie in the director’s chair and with his ability in bringing an action sequence to the screen because of his stunt background. Sitting here writing this review I can’t help but wonder if Killer’s Game either influenced or was influenced by John Wick given the world built around contract killing in both movies. Though with the popularity of the John Wick movies comparisons like this are bound to be made. Though Killer’s Game had a Wick aura it wasn’t a perfect fit.
