In 2025, the world’s most popular sport is called “Futuresport” (a combination of basketball, baseball and hockey that uses hoverboards and rollerblades) created as a non-lethal way to reduce gang warfare. Tre the star of the sport must save the world from Hawaiian Liberation Organization terrorists by winning in the game of futuresport.
If you thought that, you originally saw this movie 36 years ago in 1975 you would probably be right. Future Sport was the first of two movies (both as bad as each other) released over a four-year period that owe their existence to the original 1975 version.
The cheesy plot line is easily eclipsed by most of the early morning television series that I was hooked on in the late 90’s back when I was younger and prettier. Being the Star Wars fan that I am I have to wonder was the dialogue given to Wesley Snipes’ character Obike Fixx at least in part an inspiration for George Lucas’ dialogue for Jar Jar Binks.
