On a Mars colony in the year 2145, an officer in a rebel militia discovers that his sister, who was abducted a dozen years before, is still alive and has been raised as a soldier whose goal is to bring about the destruction of her brother’s faction.
For those of you who are regular readers of The Movie Boards would know that I am notorious for watching movies that have been sourced from a novel, without having read the novel first. We might have to start a list of movies that have been sourced from computer games without having played the game first. Considering that Red Facation: Origins is a telemovie that the SyFy channel was involved in, Red Faction actually managed to surprise me. On face value, Red Facation had a feel similar to a cheesy mid to low budget science-fiction series feel from the mid 1990’s. How is this surprising? Well I have found that most of the movies that I have come across involving the SyFy channel had left me with the need to rinse my eyes and ears out with alcohol.
