Woolworths and Coles I completely understand that your primary objective is to make money, especially around the holidays. But Hot Cross Buns in January. Seriously? Nevertheless, in January with us just getting over the madness surrounding Christmas, we find hot cross buns for sale in your supermarkets a full three months before Easter. Now I agree that Hot Cross Buns are indeed very tasty (especially the ones with the fruit in them) but there is such a thing as holiday overload.
It is true that every holiday has its own ‘merchandising’ but we do not need to be reminded that a holiday is coming three months before the holiday is actually upon us. I mean it seems that the world is getting smaller and smaller, we also complain that it seems that we have less time to do everything that we need or want to do. So putting Hot Cross Buns out so early is only going to make that feeling even worse.
I am going to make a suggestion that for all holidays we should not see the ‘merchandising’ for a given holiday no more than 6 weeks or 42 days before the given holiday.
