Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury recently announced that work commenced to install new street furniture and larger bin facilities at 10 shopping centres and three local parks across the ACT.
“Shopping centre sites selected include Kingston; Manuka; Mawson; Dickson; Petrie Plaza in Civic; Jamison; Hawker; Curtin; Kippax and Watson. Three park sites Bowen Park, Acton Park and Mount Goodwin in Macgregor, have also been identified.” Mr Rattenbury commented.
Mr. Rattenbury explained that new 240 litre bins would replace some of the existing 120 litre bins at eight of the 13 sites. Some of the smaller bins may be removed and not replaced due to the increased capacity of larger, nearby bins.
