Chief Minister and Minister for Health, Katy Gallagher has announced that Twenty Canberra community groups have received their share in $950,000 of ACT Government health grants.
“This year’s health grants round has had a particular focus on improving healthy eating and physical activity; smoking prevention, cessation or reduction; and the responsible consumption of alcohol” Chief Minister Katy Gallagher said.
The Chief Minister explained that the 2013/14 Community Funding Round saw 52 applications submitted with 20 projects awarded funding following an extensive assessment process. The Chief Minister added that the successful applications range from projects that encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls to aspire to higher education and positive health choices to the Young People Safe and Strong project that aims to empower communities from refugee backgrounds to address alcohol misuse among youth.
