As part of the ACT Government’s $1 million 2012-13 Playground Safety Program the snake house play space at John Knight Memorial Park has been given a face-lift.
“The upgrade has ensured the iconic elements for the play space are retained including the slide and the colorful snakes which can be seen winding in and out of the tower.” Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, Shane Rattenbury said
“The play space has been renewed to provide safer, more accessible play opportunities and includes new rubber soft fall areas, a wave board and nest spinner, a net for scrambling and a new play structure with a ramp for access. The play structure also includes other play prompts such as a shop counter with snake theme and voice tubes for children to speak to each other across the play area.”
Mr. Rattenbury explained that the Playground Safety Program is a capital works program that renews ACT play spaces in line with Australian and ACT standards.
