Chief Minister Katy Gallagher recently announced that the second round of centenary of Canberra number plate allocations, which will help raise valuable funds for local charities and not-for-profit organisations.
“The first round of centenary of Canberra number plates that were auctioned proved very successful and it is great to see another round of numbers plates released so that local charities can raise some much needed funds while supporting the great cause of Dollars for Dili,” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister explained that a condition of receiving a number plate is that at least 20 per cent of funds raised must go to the official centenary charity, Dollars for Dili. This will help provide better sanitation and health facilities for school kids in one of the world’s poorest nations, Timor Leste. With just 100 number plates in the series, the Chief Minister said the project had already proved popular among the Canberra community.
“The first auction of five number plates has already raised more than $15,000 and it has been great to see so many organisations taking advantage of this opportunity and putting the funds to such good use.” The Chief Minister commented.
