The dwarves, along with Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, continue their quest to reclaim Erebor, their homeland, from Smaug. Bilbo Baggins is in possession of a mysterious and magical ring.
It’s funny to think that Peter Jackson, the man who has ensured that the fifth age of 3D filmmaking will not soon fade into the mists of film history engages in the same type of franchise padding that would be expected from the filmmakers responsible for the film adaption of the latest young adult novel franchise sensation. I know that I have already complained about this in my review for An Unexpected Journey, but franchise padding is something that is annoying and very unforgiveable and in this case unneeded.
Now The Hobbit movies are still very watchable and exciting, though it should be noted that the bloated length of these is almost long enough to make a paraplegic’s butt go to sleep.
