Joshua, troubled and homeless at 15 lives from hand to mouth. When he arrives at Carmel by the Sea, a small town in California known for its local art community his prodigious art skill is discovered. As his talent flourishes, Joshua is lured into the underground world of high dollar art forgery.
This movie had an amazing cast with the casting of the iconic Lauren Bacall and Alfred Molina.
Considering the movie tagline ‘Forgery can be deadly’ I kind of got the impression that the filmmakers seemed to approach the movie with kid gloves this actually had the potential to be slightly darker than it actually was and I suppose this could have been achieved if the story focused a little less on the movie’s love story even though yes I might have a bit of a soft spot for some of Hayden Panettiere’s work since I saw her in Shanghai Kiss. This light hearted approach by the filmmakers gave The Forger what could only be described Tele-movie feel.
