While subjected to the horrors of World War II Germany, young Liesel finds solace by stealing books and sharing them with others. In the basement of her home, a Jewish refugee is being sheltered by her adoptive parents.

For those of you might not have realised The Book Thief is based on a 2005 novel of the same name by Australian author Markus Zusak. There was a really interesting start to the movie, and I loved the use of the voice by death.
I loved both Geoffrey Rush and Ben Schnetzer’s performances collectively their characters reminded me of Armin Mueller-Stahl’s character Doc from the 1992 movie the Power of One. For someone so young Sophie Nélisse who played Liesel had a great presence.
No matter how serious of a tone that movie had it was good to see that some light hearted moments and that it showed that no matter how evil the Nazis where there were people who were just as normal as everybody else.
