Minister for Tourism and Events Andrew Barr recently announced that RSPCA ACT has come on board as a Floriade 2014 charity partner.
“The animal welfare organisation, alongside another local charity which will be announced closer to the event, will enhance Floriade’s festival atmosphere and raise awareness of their important causes with unique experiences and an exciting one-off event.” Mr Barr commented.
Mr Barr explained that the RSPCA ACT’s contribution to Floriade will include a Reflection Memorial, allowing visitors to pay tribute to former pets, as well as a visually-stimulating art installation.
“While animals are not usually permitted to enter Floriade due to a risk of damaging the event’s flower beds, these rules will be relaxed for one day only to make way for a Dogs Day Out at Floriade on Tuesday 7 October.” Mr Barr commented.
Mr Barr pointed out that this exciting addition to the 2014 program will enable visitors to bring their four-legged canine friends to Floriade for the first time since the introduction of fencing in 1999.
