A woman, accidentally caught in a dark deal, turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.

The last science fiction movie that I remember that Luc Besson was involved in was the District 13 movies which were released in 2004 and 2009. But if we were to look to a science fiction movie that he directed that I remember I would have to look further back to the fifth element released in 1997. Now even if the scientific theory that is the basis for the movie isn’t completely true, Lucy is like all of the other science fiction movies that I like, it’s a movie that poses the question what would the next stage of human evolution be like.
I loved Min-sik Choi’s performance he had an amazingly threating onscreen presence. Scarlett Johansson was the right choice for this ‘superhero’ movie because it would have been so easy to cast a lesser known actress based solely on her looks. Johansson had the right blend of talent, looks and an ass kicking reputation for a ‘superhero’ movie.
The random cutaways to wildlife footage seemed strange and very out of place.
Those of you who might be following me on Facebook would know that I went with the Old Man to see Lucy. For the most part he liked the movie, though he did feel that he was let down by the ending because it did not give him the answers that he was expecting. Maybe things have been left because of the release of a graphic novel, though personally I felt that Besson was leaving himself open for a potential sequel, should Lucy prove to be a box office success.
