In 1943, five US soldiers are recruited by the OSS for a time travel mission to save the world from the tyranny of Hitler’s 25th Reich.
This practically unknown independent Australian movie was adapted from the novella 50,000 Years until Tomorrow by J. J. Solomon. If anybody knows where I can obtain a copy of the novella or know of any other works by J. J. Solomon please let me know.
The 25th Reich is definitely worth a look simply for its classic 50’s science fiction feel should you ever find it on the shelf at your friendly neighbourhood DVD store. It should be noted that it is not as visually compelling as Timo Vuorensola’s Iron Sky which was released in 2012. The overall look of The 25th Reich would have benefitted greatly if more of the budget was available for visual effects. We can only hope that is remedied should the sequel that was alluded to at the end of the movie ever gets made.
