Antony Green Awarded Honorary Doctorate by Sydney Uni

ABC Election Analyst Antony Green was recently awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by the University of Sydney for his exceptional contribution to politics and election coverage.
Antony graduated from the University in 1989 with two undergraduate degrees – a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computing, and a Bachelor of Economics with honours in Government and Public Administration. He now serves on the University of Sydney’s Advisory Committee.
“The award recognises the extent and depth of Antony’s contribution to our understanding of electoral systems and parliamentary history. In particular, his work with the NSW Parliament documenting the electoral history and Parliamentary systems of that state illustrates the quality of his research capabilities and his exceptional analytical skills,” Director of ABC News, Kate Torney said.
Ms Torney explained that in the past 25 years at the ABC Antony has worked on more than 60 Australian elections as well as elections in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Canada. Torney added that before joining the ABC he worked as a data analyst in the computing industry. Antony designed the ABC’s current election night computer system, which has set new benchmarks in the speed and accuracy of result calls
“As the ABC’s Election Analyst, Antony has covered every state and federal election since 1989 and has pioneered innovative technologies and presentation techniques. In the process, he has garnered universal respect from all sides of politics and placed the ABC at the forefront of election coverage.” Ms Torney commented.
