A psychiatrist searches the globe to find the secret of happiness.

I have vague memories of seeing something about this one at the friendly neighborhood Cinema, though I don’t recall seeing any session times or if it even had a cinematic release. The Novel was adapted from a 2002 French novel Le Voyage d’Hector ou la Recherche du bonheur by François Lelord.
I found out that I’m familiar with some of the director’s previous works (Serendipity, Shall We Dance) though not enough to be familiar with his name when I heard it. Peter Chelsom delivered a nice enough movie with decent enough performances by Simon Pegg & Rosamund Pike. Perhaps because this was adapted into another language I found that some of the philosophies that Simon Pegg’s character Hector was espousing about happiness felt as if they could have come from a Hallmark greeting card or perhaps even a fortune cookie. Though that being said the final realization of the movie in regards to happiness did seem kind of profound at the time.
