Minister for Sport and Recreation, Shane Rattenbury MLA, today launched the Canberra Darters 2015 Australian Netball League season. Led by coach Melinda Clark, the team boasts a host of local players from the ACT and surrounding region.
“The Australian Netball League competition is proving that it is a strong developmental competition. We can see that from the number of players developing into the next generation of championship stars. The Darters are continuing to inspire young Canberrans to take up sport, and they’re providing a strong foundation for netball’s future growth in the ACT.” Mr. Rattenbury commented “The ACT Government is a great supporter of netball in Canberra and I was proud to visit Belconnen Netball Association last Saturday to see firsthand the transformation of this facility.”
Mr. Rattenbury explained that ACT Government has committed $2 million to improve outdoor community netball facilities. Rattenbury added that this investment will support community netball and athlete development throughout Canberra.
