The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) has announced its 2015 program for the Canberra leg of the national Festival, opening 14th October and running for four days at the Capitol Cinemas Manuka. The JFF will be touring mainland Australia stopping in Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and finishing in Melbourne.
Japanese Film Festival spokesperson, Nick Howe explained that the Festival’s Canberra program will feature an eclectic line up of 10 Australian premieres of the very best in the latest Japanese films.
“We are excited to unveil the core program for the 2015 Japanese Film Festival. This year we are particularly proud of the strength of the independent Japanese films that are presented in our program. Japan really has some wonderful filmmaking talent, and we are thrilled to be able to showcase it in Australia” Mr. Howe commented.
Mr. Howe pointed out that the Festival will open with the brilliant romantic drama, Initiation Love, starring Japanese pop megastar and original member of AKB48, Atsuko Maeda. Highlights of the 2015 Festival also include A Samurai Chronicle, starring 2014 Japan Academy Prize Best Actor, Junichi Okada and on the closing night of the festival Japan’s official entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the upcoming 88th Academy Awards® 100 Yen Love will be screened.
