ACT Minister for Community Services Mick Gentleman has officially launched Canberra Beer Week which will take place from 5 – 11 November.
“Canberra is well renowned for our outstanding wines, and there are a number of events on the calendar each year celebrating this very fact,” Mr. Gentleman commented “But only recently have we added top quality beer to the mix, and it is wonderful to see our local brewing industry taking off, and receiving the same recognition for producing exceptional local drops. It’s also great to see Canberra Beer Week on our local events calendar, joining similar events that celebrate our local industry such as the Canberra International Riesling Challenge, Canberra and Region Wine Show and the Canberra Food and Wine Expo to name but a few.”
Mr. Gentleman explained that Canberra Beer Week has something for all beer lovers, with lunch and dinner events, trivia and movies, opportunities to meet brewers and of course Beer Day Out, which will showcase over 30 Australian and international craft breweries on 6 – 7 November.
“Canberra is evolving, and in July we announced new laws to allow venues to establish outdoor bars to provide the sorts of service Canberrans are seeking. Perhaps next beer week we will see local venues making the most of these changes.” Mr. Gentleman commented.
