Abduction

Directed by John Singleton
Staring Taylor Lautner, Lily Collins and Alfred Molina
Rated M
Score 3/6

A young man who sets out to uncover the truth about his life, after finding his baby photo on a missing person’s website.

In itself Abduction had an interesting enough concept behind it, but it ended failing to embrace the ‘no guts no glory’ attitude that you would expect from truly great action movies. Abduction tried to the Bourne franchise’s big boy trousers but failed and left us with overall pace and attitude that seemed eerily similar to the 2006 Stormbreaker. However, do not get me wrong, Abduction is a watchable yet possibly riffable movie it had an amazing supporting cast with the likes of Alfred Molina, Jason Isaacs, Sigourney Weaver and Maria Bello. The veteran supporting cast really where not in a position to rescue the movie that really should have been done by Taylor Lautner. I really have to question the logic in casting Lautner, he may have potential as an actor but it is probably not in action movies. Especially if you consider that it looked like that he spent more time in the makeup chair, then his love interest played by Lily Collins.
