Palace Cinemas has announced that Chauvel Cinema, Paddington, will commence a program of iconic and cult film favourites as part of the newly-launched Chauvel Cine-Vault.
Palace Cinemas explained that the program will be opening on Friday, July 8th the program, which has evolved from the long-running Chauvel Cinematheque, aims to showcase rare 35mm film prints where possible, offering the audience a chance to experience the wonders of celluloid projection alongside state-of-the-art digital projection and restorations of classic films. Each Friday night at 7.30pm, the Cine-Vault sessions are presented in curated bespoke double features, except a few. The notable films being shown as part of the program include the opening film – a 15th Anniversary Screening of DONNIE DARKO and regarding 35mm offerings, Tarkovsky’s grand SOLARIS will be showing from a rare print. The fifteen-week program allows iconic cinema titles such as PSYCHO and THE BIRDS to sit alongside science fiction oddities such as PLANET OF THE APES (1968) and ZARDOZ; classic meets Contemporary; cult meets cute – all forms of cinema are contained within The Cine-Vault.
