Seven gun men in the old west gradually come together to help a poor village against savage thieves.

Denzel Washington and Director Antoine Fuqua are indeed a proven actor/director combination. However, unfortunately this really wasn’t the best example of Fuqua’s work and I really wanted this to live up to the previews because I love this genre and you almost never see a Western get a cinematic release, the westerns that I have seen in recent years have pretty much all been direct-to-DVD releases. And if there was going to any change to the fate of Westerns this needed to be GOOD. The big problem with this movie was so emotionally flat, sure there were a few jokes here and there when they were getting ‘the band’ together (everybody had some good moments and nobody phoned in their performance with the material that they had) but when it came to the climax of the movie there was nothing it just sort of fell on its face and the emotional payoff for this movie could have been great if Denzel brought the thunder instead of phoning it in. I suppose one of the few saving graces of the movie was the soundtrack.
